Our dental staff was carefully chosen and trained. We have assembled a team specifically designed to serve our patients through clinical excellence and comfort. From the knowledgeable administrative staff, to the compassionate dental assistants, to the experienced hygienists, our entire group strives to provide you with the very best in dentistry.
Dr. Gibson has practiced dentistry since 1967. He opened a home office in Woodbridge in 1969 after serving with the U.S. Public Health Service from 1967 to 1969 on an Indian reservation in Arizona.
Dr. Gibson received both his Bachelors and his DDS degree from the University of Maryland.
Dr. Gibson is a member and past President of the New Haven Dental Association. Dr. Gibson is a member of the Connecticut State Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and he has achieved lifetime member status in the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Gibson routinely participates in continuing education; in 2007 Dr. Gibson attended the Lumineer™ course and is certified in Lumineer™ porcelain veneer restorations.
Dr. Dean Cloutier, DDS Dr. Cloutier received his degree from the University of Illinois and went on to do a general practice residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. Afterwards, he taught for many years in the Yale New Haven Hospital dental department as an associate clinical professor.
Dr. Cloutier is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He is a member of the Pierre Fauchard Society, OKU (National Honorary Dental Society), and Connecticut’s Horace Wells Society. He is also a lifetime member of the Christian Medical & Dental Association.
Dr. Cloutier has been actively involved in organized dentistry and was president of both the New Haven Dental Association and the Connecticut State Dental Association. He has also represented Connecticut at a national level. He has provided volunteer services for Yale New Haven Hospital, Hill Health Center, Columbus House and Missions of Mercy. He also continues to participate in short term dental missions throughout the world. Dr. Plachtyna has been in private practice with the New Haven Dental Group since 1984. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Merrimack College and his DDS from Northwestern University Dental School.
Dr. Plachtyna is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and is a candidate for the Mastership level. The Academy promotes continuing education in all areas of General Dentistry. Dr. Plachtyna has invested more than 1100 hours in continuing education to provide his patients' with excellent dental care.
Dr. Plachtyna has taught at the Yale New Haven Hospital Residency Program as an adjunct faculty member. He is currently on leave from this position.more ...

Dr. Cedarbaum has practiced dentistry since 1953. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Yale University, his DDS from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed his residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Cedarbaum has taught dentistry since 1973 at Yale University School of Medicine. He is co-director of the General Practice Residency program at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is a Fellow at the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Cedarbaum also belongs to the New Haven Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Dean received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Connecticut in 2007. She received the 2007 American Academy of Periodontology Dental Student Achievement Award as well as the 2007 “Academy of Osseointegration Outstanding Dental Student in Implant Dentistry” Award.
Following completion of her dental degree, Dr. Dean pursued advanced training in periodontics and dental implants at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis. Her Master’s degree was based on her research on bone physiology of various statin medications and won her a second place in the Billy M. Pennel Research Competition by the Southern Academy of Periodontics.
Dr. Dean is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is also a member of the American Academy of Periodontology. In her spare time, Dr. Dean enjoys reading mystery novels, hiking, fishing and swimming.more ...
Dr. O’Brien has practiced dentistry since 1983. He received his Bachelor’s Degree, Cum Laude, from The University of Pennsylvania and his DMD from The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. While attending Dental School he was invited to serve as a part time faculty member. In addition, he received both The Henry B. Robinson Award and The Caleus Award, which are presented to the school’s top clinicians.
Dr. O’Brien is a member of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association, the New Haven Dental Association, OKU (National Dental Honor Society), and recently received an Associate Fellowship in laser dentistry. He has participated in over 1000 hours of continuing education during his career in an effort to provide the highest quality of care for his patients.
Dr. O’Brien played college basketball for The University of Pennsylvania and participated in two NCAA March Madness tournaments, once reaching get around of 16 and once making it to the Final Four. He has also played tennis and platform tennis most of his life. However, his current passion, after family of course, is golf. During most of his free time he can be found on the links playing to a single digit handicap. He has had the good fortune to play all over the United States and Great Britain including several US Open and British Open venues. Royal Dornoch, home of Donald Ross in the highlands of Scotland, is his favorite golf course in the world.
Dr. Jane A Russo earned her bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from Colby College in 1978. She spent two years working as a medical technologist in New York City before becoming interested in dentistry after observing at the Veteran’s Hospital Dental Clinic. This interest led her to the University of Pennsylvania’s Dental School where she graduated in 1984. There, she enjoyed working with her peers and founded the University of Pennsylvania Women's Dental Society where she remained president for 2 years. Dr. Russo has always been dedicated to giving back wherever possible. In 1986, living in Okinawa, Japan, she volunteered with the Red Cross, administering dental care to the United States Marine Corps. Her sense of community continued upon her return to the States, where she launched neighborhood dental clinics which provided care to underprivileged children. Dr. Russo instituted programs to provide sports mouth guards free of charge to children to help prevent the occurrence of concussions and spinal injuries.
Always looking for opportunities to help domestically and abroad, Dr. Russo organized a dental clinic where she provided dental care during a missions trip to the Dominican Republic. Her work with charities continues to be a large part of her life.
She is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and specializes in cosmetic and implant dentistry. In addition, she has been a certified Invisalign provider for 3 years.
Dr. Ahmad received her Bachelor's Degree with a double major in Biology and Spanish from Washington University in St. Louis and her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She then completed a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Hospital in Brooklyn, NY where she was able to obtain advanced training in multiple areas, including cosmetic dentistry, implant restorations, full mouth crowns and extractions.
Before relocating permanently to the Northeast, Dr. Ahmad practiced in Southwest Florida in both a private practice setting and on the reservation of a Native American Tribe. These different practice modalities, in conjunction to her experience at the Veterans Hospital, gave Dr. Ahmad the opportunity to meet a variety of different patients and treat a range of dental conditions. Her experiences allow her to communicate effectively with patients and ensure that they confident in the treatment they are receiving.
Dr. Ahmad's practice philosophy is to prioritize the health, comfort and desires of her patients above all else. In her spare time, Dr. Ahmad enjoys spending time her her family, traveling abroad, playing board games and cooking.
